Research Interests
Andreea Ciplea is a first-year PhD student at the Faculty of Physics, Babes-Bolyai University She has an interdisciplinary background, holding a degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine from “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and is currently practicing as a general dentist.
She completed the international Mastership in Laser Dentistry, conducted at “Sigmund Freud” University Vienna in partnership with “AALZ Aachen”, where she acquired competencies in laser therapy and certification as a Laser Safety Officer.
Her current research focuses on the development of functional nanomaterials with biomedical applications, particularly targeting periodontal disease. Her PhD project aims to design a fluorophore-based nanoparticle for use in photodynamic therapy (PDT), capable of eliminating periodontopathogenic bacteria, with the goal of developing an innovative adjunctive treatment for periodontitis.
Her research interests include nanomaterials, artificial intelligence, and their applications in medicine.
