Research Interests

Alexandru is a 4th year PhD student in Physiscs and a member of the NLMC group for 8 years. His research interest was towards the synthesis and biofunctionalization of core-shell gold-silver nanoparticles, while lately it shifted to the synthesis of fluorescence self-emiting gold nanoclusters for real-time image-guided surgery of ovarian cancer.

  • Synthesis of colloidal gold, silver and gold-silver nanoparticles
  • Synthesis of fluorescence self-emiting gold nanoclusters
  • Spectroscopic techniques (UV-VIS, DLS, zeta potential)
  • Raman and Surface enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
  • Steady-state Fluorescence Spectroscopy

International visibility

  • Co-author of 13 ISI and 1 non-ISI papers (10 as main author), Hirsh index: 4 (Scholar, WoS), 94/79 citations (Scholar/WoS)
  • 3 oral and 4 poster presentation at International and National conferences as the main presenter
  • 1 Scientific Performance Scholarship
  • 1 Erasmus Traineeship Mobility Grant (5 months) to University of Messina, CHIBIOFARAM Department, Asoc. Prof. Anna Piperno's research team
